SKIN CARE 101: Dark Circles

February 05, 2021 Charlotte Cho

Dark circles are pesky, evil discolorations under our eyes that make us look tired and older than we really are. We combat them by hiding them under our best BB cream, and if that doesn't work we reach for foundation or a concealer stick.

My problem with that solution is that I don't like covering it up, just hoping it'll go away. Concealers really dry out the skin around my eyes and often times it actually accentuates the fine lines underneath that cakey mess.

So let's focus on the root of the problem - because obviously we prefer looking naturally bright-eyed when we roll out of bed.

As you age, you lose collagen. Because the skin around your eyes are thin and delicate, veins show more prominently which results in dark circles. Obviously there is no magic cure or solution to rid yourselves of panda eyes, but I believe there are a few key ways to maintain the eye area and keep dark circles at bay.

Always drink plenty of water. You've heard this 100 times, but you probably need another reminder. This can do your skin (and body) wonders by flushing out toxins and keeping your skin hydrated.

Sleep a solid 8 hours per day. Another no-brainer. They don't call it beauty sleep for nothing.

Replenish collagen levels with an eye cream that has collagen extracts. I recommend generously applying the Collagen Moistfull Eye Cream morning and night. This formula is fortified with collagen and is extremely moisturizing, preventing dark circles and fine lines from forming.

Intense hydration with collagen eye patches. I can't stress how addicting the Collagen Eye Patches are. They are soaked in collagen extracts, and you let them sit underneath your eyes for about 30 minutes. Peel them off and you can feel how smooth, bright and plump your under eye area has become after one session.
