Two things that I love in this world are lipstick and manicures. They are both little investments that totally perk up my mood when I'm feeling blah or just need a pop of color in my life. Preferably, I like both of these things to be easy, affordable and long-lasting.
Soko Glam has four colors up for grabs. I tried these two.
So naturally, when I first saw the Clio Lipnicure Glass I was excited to try it. The name itself implies that it is like a manicure for your lips. Lip - nicure ... get it? The high-quality tube even resembles a bottle of nail polish, and it’s an update on their Clio Virgin Kiss Lipnicure.
Cute packaging resembles nail polish. Ready for my lipnicure.
The new glossy Clio Lipnicure Glass comes in an array of colors. It was hard to pick just two, but for this review, I chose to test #5 Romantico and #3 Heartbreaker to get me Valentine's Day-ready.
#5 Romantico up top, #3 Heartbreaker down below.
With a couple of swipes of the wand my lips were transformed from dull and drab to bright and cheery. Word to the wise with any long lasting lip color -- watch where you apply. One flick of the wrist outside the lines and you'll look like you have a case of serious Kool-Aid mouth.
The shades that I tested are richly pigmented and deliver long-lasting color payoff. I eat constantly all day. Really, just ask Charlotte. It' s like a revolving door of snacks at my desk, so I’m always wiping my mouth with a napkin. The lip color survived halfway through the day (after my barrage of napkin swipes) but I still had to touch up by the time it was mid-afternoon. However, if I were going about my day or night without eating everything in sight, I’m pretty positive this color would stay put.
Love the soft color and opaque finish of #3 Romantico.
I am a total skincare ingredient nerd, so I was happy to see rockstar ingredients like Rosehip Oil, Argan Oil and Jojoba Oil. Having constantly dry and chapped lips means that ingredients like these will act as a drink of water for my pout.
My one complaint, is that I do not care for the scent. I am really weird and particular when it comes to the smell of my beauty products (hello? have you ever smelled mascara? It fascinates me). I wish it had a sweeter scent, like the Tony Moly Petite Bunny Gloss Bars do.
Yes. Definitely breaking hearts in #5 Heartbreaker.
Overall, I am a huge fan of the Clio Lipnicure Glass. As much as I love the original matte Clio Virgin Kiss Lipnicure, I adore the convenience of not having to apply a gloss over the color to achieve a dewy shine -- I don't really see the point of a long wearing lip color if you have to re-apply a gloss over it all day.
Have any of you tried long wearing lip color? Do you love it? Hate it? Let me know your thoughts!
