Meet me at KCON!

July 09, 2015 Charlotte Cho

Last month was insane. I spent three weeks running around in Korea and then when I got back, we launched THE KLOG. Soon after, my favorite products from Klairs hit the site (so happy to be getting good feedback so far BTW). And now we’re prepping for the next batch of newly curated items to hit Soko Glam. Be ready guys, ‘cause some of them have become my latest holy grails (Son & Park Beauty Water, Neogen Lemon Tox Essence- I’m looking at you).

It’s hard to believe that July is even more crazy-pants. There are some pretty sweet things I get to reveal this month -- some stuff that has been over a year in the making.

No point in killing you with suspense, so here is Part One!

Have you heard of KCON? It’s only the biggest Korean culture event outside of Korea -- and it’s starting at the end of the month. I’m so, so excited! As I am every year. They’ve always got a killer lineup of K-pop acts. But this year I’m especially excited because I get to host skin care workshops at KCON Los Angeles. And it’s their first time coming to NYC, so I get to also host a workshop at KCON NY.

I’ll walk you through Korean celebrity skin secrets, a topic I haven’t yet covered before! Finally, an outlet to celebrate my love for all my favorite Korean drama actresses and actors and their stellar skin care routine. Bonus: If you happen to be at my workshop, I’ll be handing out Korean beauty goodie bags, so come get one. More on that below.

By the way, my Sunday workshop involves a special featured guest that I will announce closer to the date. I’m so stoked, guys!

For those of you who are new to KCON, it’s basically a huge Korean convention that takes place in the US and Japan. Everyone who loves K-dramas, K-pop bands, K-beauty and Korean culture (food included!) comes out to hang out with others who share the same passion in the same place for three whole days. To get you pumped, I've included a couple music videos below...

Sistar - Shake It

Throughout the convention you have the chance to meet your favorite K-pop groups and influencers and attend fun workshops and panels. There’s a huge concert every night: This year, the line-up includes Girls’ Generation, Sistar (stay tuned for a makeup tutorial for them), Shinhwa, Roy Kim, Super Junior AOA, Block B, and more.

Girls’ Generation - Party

KCON is off the chain. Last year, over 42K people attended. This year they decided to move it to the Staples Center so they could accommodate everyone. And for the first time, they will be hosting KCON on the East Coast as well, at the Prudential Center in NJ.

If you want to learn more about each event or buy tickets, check out the KCON website here.

Other cool stuff you should know:

KCON LA will be held July 31 to Aug. 2 at Staples Center. KCON NY will take place at the Prudential Center Aug. 8.

Are you in or around the LA or NYC area and want to go to KCON? We’ll be giving away one pair of tickets for KCON LA and one pair for KCON NY! Sign up for our newsletter so you get the details on how to enter the giveaway.

The first 300 people to attend each of my workshops will get a kickass goodie bag of deluxe Korean beauty product samples. It’s first come, first serve, so don’t be late! Also, stay tuned for times and dates of the workshops.

Can’t make it? We’ll be hosting a live Twitter feed of what is happening at KCON and you too can have your chance at winning some Soko Glam prizes. All you need to do is use the hashtag #KCONxCHARLOTTE throughout KCON LA from July 31st- August 2nd and KCON NY (Aug. 8).

I will be hosting a meet and greet at the Korean Tourism Organization booth where you can also get a fun-filled K-beauty goodie bag! :) More details to be announced.

Let me know in the comment section below if you’re going to be either at KCON LA or NY! Would love to meet you there!
