REVIEW: Neogen Real Fresh Foam Cleansers
Fruit on the bottom: Real fruit fermenting in there for real amino acids and vitamins for your skin!
Nothing gets me more excited than introducing a completely new and innovative Korean beauty product here on THE KLOG! Today is one of those days, because I’m about to introduce you to a newly curated cleanser from Neogen, the brand that has been leading beauty innovations.
The product
Neogen Real Fresh Foam Cleanser in Green Tea, Cereal and Cranberry.
What it is
A foaming water-based cleanser I use after my oil cleanser. But it’s not your typical cleanser...
It’s all in the ingredients
I’ve never seen a water-based cleanser with so much good stuff.
Case-in-point: A lot of beauty products contain water. In fact, it’s typically the main ingredient.
This particular cleanser is unique because the main ingredient is not water. It’s made of extracts from real plants, whole grains or fruit, depending on which one you pick!
Take a look at the rest of the ingredient list. There are actually almost 100 ingredients in each cleanser, most from natural sources. The list looks daunting at first, but look closely and you’ll see ingredients that you can actually pronounce the majority being root, flower and fruit extracts.
Take an even closer look and you’ll see many of the ingredients are fermented plant and fruit extract (i.e. Lactobacillus/Aspergillus/Prunus Mume Fruit Ferment Filtrate, Lactobacillus/Punica Granatum Fruit Ferment Extract, Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract, Lactobacillus/Nelumbo Nucifera Seed Ferment Filtrate).
As I’ve said many times, fermented skin care is the future. This natural process makes your ingredients extra potent as they produce extra enzymes and vitamins that are good for skin.
Some of your favorite products and our best sellers include fermented ingredients—Missha First Treatment Essence contains fermented yeast, SU:M37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick has fermented rose, and now the Neogen Real Fresh Foam Cleanser.
Neogen Green Tea Real Fresh Foam Cleanser, my personal fav. Really soothing on my combination skin.
The kicker? The thing that puts this cleanser above the rest?
Look at the base of the cleanser. You can see real green tea leaves, cranberries and whole grains in action as they ferment at the bottom of the cleanser itself. That means your skin is getting the effects of the real fruits/grains and plants—straight from the source!
So what does it mean for your skin?
This means the cleanser has powerful antioxidant effects while cleansing gently. Remember, you’re washing your face twice a day so using a cleanser that is good for your skin is key to keeping it healthy.
Neogen also put this cleanser through 7 different clinical tests to prove just how effective it is at whisking away sebum, moisturizing, reducing dead skin cells, and improving complexion (including pores) -- all while being free of any irritating ingredients.
I’ve curated 3 types to address 3 different skin concerns:
How to use Neogen foam cleansers
I like to use this after my oil cleansing step. I pump it into my hand about one or two times, then I massage the light airy foam into my damp skin gently for about a minute. Next I rinse off with lukewarm or cold water. (BTW, the foam is made with a natural foaming agent called quillaja saponaria, so it’s very gentle on the skin.)
pH
This cleanser’s pH clocks in at about 7 (the pH of water), which indicates it’s neutral. Your skin is naturally acidic, anywhere between a 4.5-5.5. I typically recommend facial cleansers that have a pH of 5-7.
I know some of you have been patiently waiting for this product to hit Soko Glam since I showcased it at KCON this year. This is the product that got the most oooh’s and ahhh’s, and for good reason.
